Longevity of Perfumes

The perfume I bought lasts less than an hour. Did I purchase a FAKE perfume? Not necessarilly. The truth is, longevity of perfumes cannot be used as a basis for authenticity. In fact, if you purchased a perfume directly from the perfumery section of reputable malls such as SM, Robinsons or Rustan's you would notice that different perfumes have different longevity -- some last long while some don't. Also, using the same perfume, longevity varies from person to person. So do these malls sell FAKE perfumes? Definitely not. But why do they have differing longevity? Intensity and longevity of a perfume is based...

Eau De Cologne, Eau De Toilette & Eau De Parfum

Eau De Cologne, Eau De Toilette and Eau De Parfum reflect the concentration of aromatic compounds in a solvent, which is typically a mix of water and ethanol. The intensity and longevity of a perfume is based on the concentration, intensity and longevity of the aromatic compounds, or perfume oils, used. Tester Perfumes

Tester Perfumes are manufactured by the original designer of the fragrances for promotional purposes. TESTERS are actually intended for customer testing of the product in retail stores. Contents of all TESTERS are exactly the same as the contents of the normal retail version and come in exactly the same bottle as the retail version. TESTERS come in plain brown or white packaging (no fancy packaging) and the spray bottles may not come with a cap or lid. There is also a label "TESTER/DEMONSTRATION", "TESTER NOT FOR SALE" or something to that effect in both the box and bottle. Are TESTERS fake? Definitely not, they are...

US Authentic Perfumes

US Authentic Perfumes actually means 100% authentic perfumes. These are exactly the same perfumes that you would get when you buy directly from the perfumery section of reputable shopping malls such as SM, Robinsons and Rustan's. This terminology actually came about in order to differentiate 100% authentic perfumes from Singapore and Dubai Authentic Perfumes -- which as we have explained in a previous Blog Guide, are actually FAKES and not authentic as their name implies. The term US Authentic Perfumes is actually a misnomer since not all authentic perfumes are Made in the USA. There are actually honest sellers who unknowingly label their...

Singapore & Dubai Authentic Perfumes

If you ever tried to buy or bought perfumes online, you would definitely have come across the terms Singapore Authentic Perfumes and Dubai Authentic Perfumes. What do these mean and should I care? Yes, you should care! Singapore and Dubai Authentic Perfumes are actually euphemisms created by unscrupulous sellers who sell FAKE perfumes in order to create confusion in the perfume market and thereby fool buyers into buying their products. These unscrupulous sellers claim that their perfumes are the real thing by using the word "authentic" and that the only difference with authentic perfumes is that these perfumes lasts only up...
